Mediterranean Yacht Brokerage Association - MYBA
As a MYBA Member, we have access to MYBA net. This is a worldwide database for yachts available for charter, a sort of online booking centre especially for charter brokers. All of BGYB’s charter contracts and agreements comply with MYBA’s terms and conditions.
The yachts that we offer for charter are subject to annual monitoring and checks. These are carried out at the highest level possible of the yachting industry, demanding quality criteria in terms of comfort, maintenance and administrative controls.
We can advise you on the best destinations and itineraries suited to you as we are in constant contact with experienced crews. These crews share with us their charter experiences and know the most beautiful anchor sites as well as other memorable stops not to be missed during your stay onboard.
We carefully select the crew by taking into account the following essential criteria; hospitality, sailing experience, professionalism and quality of meals served.
The reservation process:
1. During a telephone conversation or correspondence over email, one of our charter brokers will ask you about your preferences for your ideal charter:
- Type of yacht
- Number of cabins desired
- Charter dates
- Number of guests
- Cruising area
2. Selection of yachts available for charter
To find the perfect yacht for you, we will send you a wide array of yachts to chose from that fit your requirements.
3. Preparation & drafting of the MYBA Contract
After the perfect yacht is found, we move onto the critical step. This consists of pinning down all the essential elements for your charter:
- Ports and dates for both embarkation and disembarkation
- Amount of your APA – Advanced Provisioning Allowance
- Preference List (food, drinks, menus, special event to be organised on board during the charter by the crew, terms of payment..)
4. Signing of the MYBA Contract and reservation of your yacht
In the first instance, the signing of the MYBA Charter Agreement is usually done over scan and email. The originals are then signed and then must be kept onboard during the charter. Payments are made into our escrow account, in order to guarantee security. We transfer these payments to the owner in specified time frames up until the final payment, which usually takes place a few days after the end of your charter.
5. The MYBA Charter Agreement works under the following conditions:
The amount of the charter fee includes the charter of the yacht with its crew, fully equipped and fully insured. In Europe, the charterer will be charged separately for all other expenses such as fuel, berthing costs and harbour charges, food and beverages and any other special services that you may request. In order to cover these costs we will require an advanced provisioning allowance (APA), which is generally 20% - 30% of the charter fee. This is given to the captain of the yacht prior to the charter to allow the yacht to be stocked in preparation for your arrival on board.
At the end of the charter (and during, if requested) the captain will produce full invoices of all expenditure related to these expenses.
If, at the end of the charter, the APA has a credit in your favour, we will send you a refund of all monies not spent. If the amount of APA does not cover all expenses related to your charter, we will request payment for all monies owed.
In the Caribbean, the weekly charter fees are all inclusive except special requests (wines, champagne, specific alcoholic drinks), dockage fees if any, use of communications means available on board and crew gratuity.
Let your mind wonder, and we’ll do the rest!
