One of the most unique sailboats launched in the past five years, Paradox is a unique cruiser / racer trimaran designed by the legendary design team of Nigel Irens and Benoit Cabaret. Built by Marsaudon Composite , using the moulds of Loick Peyron’s highly successful ORMA racing trimaran Fujifilm, Paradox is 100 percent carbon composite, and utilizes much of the same technology that made ORMA trimarans the most exciting sailboats on the water.

Since launching in March 2010, her owner has done three Atlantic passages and cruised on Paradox in Brittany, Sardinia, Greece, the Caribbean, the Canaries, the Cape Verde islands, Bermuda, Newport, Maine, the Azores, Panama, and most recently, San Francisco. Paradox averages between 300 and 350 miles per day offshore, so she can make an Atlantic crossing in 7 – 10 days. Her advanced energy system includes solar panels, a hydro-generator, and fuel cells that provide complete autonomy offshore, allowing her to sail without the use of an engine. Her refrigerator, water-maker, hot water heater, shower, retractable anchor launching system and swim platform make Paradox a versatile and comfortable cruiser, while her hydraulic mainsheet and electric winches make sailing effortless.

PARADOX underwent a full refit and structural inspection in 2012, and a further refit in 2015, which included new foils, new paint job, new carbon outrigger, new NORTH 3 DI sails, new Lithium batteries, and more. She also comes with a 20 ft. container.

PARADOX has a fantastic racing record. During the 2013 Caribbean 600, Paradox beat the monohull course record set by Speedboat 100, and came within ten minutes of the multihull course record set by a racing ORMA trimaran. She won the Transatlantic Race 2015, from Newport to Lizard Point, sailing four consecutive 500+ mile days. More recently, PARADOX won the Rolex Middle Sea Race.

Paradox’s design allows for both comfortable cruising for up to six people, and impressive speeds of up to 36 knots when racing. Easily sailed shorthand by two people, or safely day-sailed with a dozen friends and family, Paradox is a unique and highly versatile sailboat.

Co-founded by Royal Malta Yacht Club and the Royal Ocean Racing Club in 1968, the 2015 race was the 36th Edition. The race is a true challenge to skippers and crews who have to cope with unpredicatble and difficult conditions.
