NOMAD IV, a high-performance sailboat, sold

BGYB is delighted to announce the sale of NOMAD IV, a 2013 Maxi Dolphin 100. Designed by Finot-Conq and built of carbon fiber by the Italian shipyard Maxi Dolphin, she is capable of combining long-distance sailing, comfortable cruising, and regatta performance; notably, she has sailed around the world and as far as Antarctica. Winner of the 2015 RORC Transatlantic, this 33.40-meter yacht also underwent a major refit program completed in 2024.

A Successfully Completed Sale

The sale of NOMAD IV has officially been completed, marking the beginning of a new chapter for this performance cruising yacht. Launched in 2013 by Italian shipyard Maxi Dolphin, the 33.40-metre sailing yacht was developed for offshore performance, long-distance cruising and demanding ocean passages.

Full-Carbon Yacht Construction

Designed by Finot-Conq-De Premorel, NOMAD IV features a hull, superstructure and sailing rig extensively built in carbon. Her lightweight construction and 8.25-metre beam provide power, stability and responsive handling under sail. A 45-metre Lorima carbon mast, twin carbon rudders and nine Harken hydraulic winches further underline her credentials as a high-performance sailing yacht.

Proven Offshore Performance

Developed as a 100-foot evolution of the IMOCA yachts created for the Vendée Globe, NOMAD IV is equipped with a lifting keel and nine tonnes of transferable water ballast. She carries 689 sqm of sail upwind and 1,397 sqm downwind. Her cruising history includes a circumnavigation and a voyage to Antarctica, while her racing record features a gold medal in the 2015 RORC Transatlantic.

The Comfort of a Large Cruising Yacht

Despite her performance-focused design, NOMAD IV offers the space and comfort required for extended cruising. She accommodates up to twelve guests in five en-suite cabins. The raised deck saloon provides panoramic 360-degree views, while the expansive cockpit includes two dining tables with seating for up to twelve guests.

A Refit Completed in 2024

Before the sale, NOMAD IV underwent several technical and cosmetic upgrade programmes. The 2024 works included the replacement of numerous hydraulic hoses, inspection and recertification of the EC6 standing rigging, ultrasonic testing of the boom and gooseneck, and repainting of the mast and boom.

A New Chapter for NOMAD IV

This completed sale begins a new phase for one of the most distinctive carbon sailing yachts in her category. Combining offshore racing capability, expedition experience and comfortable cruising accommodation, NOMAD IV now joins her new owner with a proven technical platform and an exceptional record of global sailing.
