MOD 70 Racing Trimaran: The New Price
Born out of the ORMA 60 experience, the MOD 70 is an offshore racing trimaran drawn by VPLP Design to give internationally renowned skippers strictly identical platforms. Only seven hulls ever came out of the moulds at CDK Technologies, Multiplast and Décision. LIMOSA is the fifth of them. She measures 21.20 m in length and 16.80 m in beam, with a 4.50 m draft and an all-carbon composite construction. French flagged, she currently lies in La Seyne-sur-Mer and can be viewed by appointment. Her asking price drops from €1,400,000 to €990,000 Ex VAT.
A VPLP Design One-Design Built in Just Seven Hulls
The MOD 70 was born out of the ORMA 60 era, with the ambition of giving offshore racing a fleet of strictly identical trimarans. VPLP Design drew the plans, while CDK Technologies, Multiplast and Décision built the boats. Only seven hulls ever left the mould, and LIMOSA is the fifth of them, built in 2011. This racing trimaran therefore belongs to a very short series, each unit of which has since followed its own sporting path.
Formerly SPINDRIFT and MANA: This Racing Trimaran's Track Record
Before taking the name LIMOSA, this MOD 70 raced as SPINDRIFT and then as MANA. Under her current colours she took multihull line honours in the 2023 Rolex Middle Sea Race in 2 days 2 hours 10 minutes and 42 seconds, skippered by Alexia Barrier alongside Dee Caffari. In April 2024 she also sailed from Antigua to Portimão on the first transatlantic passage ever completed on a MOD 70 by an all-female crew.
A 21.20 m Carbon Platform Built for Speed
LIMOSA measures 21.20 m in length and 16.80 m in beam, with a draft of 4.50 m. Her construction is entirely in carbon composite, by CDK Technologies, Multiplast and Décision. Auxiliary propulsion comes from a 55 HP Volvo Penta D2-55 sail drive. Those dimensions and that all-carbon build make this racing multihull a platform built for speed, ocean crossings and the great offshore racing events.
Racing Trimaran for Sale in La Seyne-sur-Mer, France
This racing trimaran sails under the French flag and currently lies in La Seyne-sur-Mer, in the Var. Her position in the Western Mediterranean puts her within immediate reach of the region's major racing events, from the regattas of the Var coast to the offshore courses of the western basin. Her asking price drops from €1,400,000 to €990,000 Ex VAT.
A MOD 70 with a Mediterranean and Transatlantic Programme
Her track record maps out her playing field: the 606 nautical miles of the Rolex Middle Sea Race on one side, the Atlantic crossing from Antigua to Portimão on the other. This MOD 70 is built for the great Mediterranean offshore classics as much as for transatlantic passages. Originally conceived as a strictly one-design series, the class has since evolved hull by hull, each team developing its own platform campaign after campaign: the MOD 70s still sailing are no longer rigorously identical to one another.
