TARA BAY, Technical Refit in Progress

TARA BAY is currently undergoing scheduled technical refit works in Canet-en-Roussillon, with completion expected by the end of June. This 21.60m ketch, built by Ta Chiao Shipbuilding, is benefiting from a full overhaul of her Perkins main engine, which has been removed from the engine bay for a complete service of its main components. A new generator is also being installed to improve reliability and onboard autonomy. Once the works are completed, TARA BAY will return to her base in Rosas, Spain.

Technical refit underway

TARA BAY is currently undergoing an important technical refit in Canet-en-Roussillon, in the South of France, with completion scheduled for the end of June. These works are designed to prepare the yacht for her next cruising programmes by improving her overall reliability, ease of operation and onboard comfort. This refit represents a real advantage for future owners looking for a well-maintained sailing yacht ready for new adventures.

Perkins engine overhaul

TARA BAY’s Perkins engine is currently undergoing a complete overhaul, including removal from the engine room to allow a detailed inspection and precise work on the main mechanical components. This major operation makes it possible to check, service and restore the essential parts of the engine. It directly contributes to improving the yacht’s safety, reliability and long-term performance, particularly for extended cruising or long-distance sailing programmes.

New generator

The installation of a new generator further enhances TARA BAY’s onboard autonomy and comfort. This new equipment ensures a more reliable power supply for the yacht’s systems, both underway and at anchor. For a long-range cruising ketch, this improvement is a major asset, especially during extended stays on board or sailing programmes requiring greater energy independence.

Long-range cruising ketch

With a length of 21.60 m, TARA BAY combines the charm and strength of a true long-range cruising ketch. Her ketch rig offers balanced, versatile sailing, well suited to longer passages, while her design focuses on safety and comfort at sea. She is ideal for owners looking for a seaworthy, authentic sailing yacht capable of supporting ambitious cruising plans in the Mediterranean and beyond.
