IKRA

IKRA, formerly known as Kurrewa V, serves as a testament to the enduring sustainability and versatility of the 12-Metre class in the America's Cup. Throughout its existence, IKRA has enjoyed various roles and gained fame in different arenas. It was initially recognized as a cutting-edge racing yacht that came close to, and some argue should have been, the challenger against CONSTELLATION in the 1964 Newport Cup.

Over the years, IKRA has also excelled as a successful cruiser/racer, showcasing the capabilities of 12-Metre yachts in that domain. Additionally, IKRA holds the distinction of being one of the two yachts that initiated the esteemed regatta movement known as La Nioulargue, now known as Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, which began as a friendly challenge among gentlemen sailors.

The current owners of IKRA have taken great care to uphold its legacy by ensuring its versatility in various roles. This includes a removable interior and alternate rigs that allow IKRA to participate as a 'Straight' Twelve in the active International Twelve Metre Class events worldwide. Additionally, IKRA can partake in the Classic Division at the vibrant CIM classic regattas in the Mediterranean. For family cruising, IKRA offers a custom, cut-down cruising rig that is ideal for short-handed sailing. While many large classics claim to be suitable for shorthanded sailing, IKRA truly lives up to this reputation.

IKRA holds an exceptional position to partake in significant upcoming Mediterranean 12-Metre/America's Cup events. These notable events encompass the 2023 European Championship, set to take place in Cannes in September, the 2024 World Championship in the southern region of France, and the America's Cup 12-Metre Regatta scheduled for October 2024 in Barcelona.

IKRA holds a special status in France as a "Bateau d'intérêt patrimonial" (heritage vessel). While we typically hesitate to use the term "iconic," it truly applies to IKRA. Its classification as a "Bateau d'intérêt patrimonial" in France further emphasizes its significance.
