Her asking price drops from €190,000 to €145,000 VAT paid, a €45,000 reduction. Her main mast was replaced in 2020, her engine in 2023 and her hull fully restored in 2025. Flying the French flag, ROB ROY currently lies in Canet-en-Roussillon before attending Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez 2026.
A 1956 Arthur Robb Yawl Built by Herbert Woods
ROB ROY was launched in 1956 by the English shipyard Herbert Woods Ltd to a design by naval architect Arthur Robb. She measures 17.00 m in length and 3.99 m in beam, with a draft of 1.80 m. Her carvel Honduras mahogany planking over Canadian rock elm frames, together with Monel fittings, reflects the traditional construction methods of classic British wooden yachts from this period.
A Classic Racing Yawl with an International Track Record
Former flagship of the Knickerbocker Yacht Club, ROB ROY has taken part in Antigua Race Week, the Newport-Bermuda Race and Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez. Her sailing history also includes an Atlantic crossing completed in 2005. This combination of offshore passages and international racing gives the 56-foot yawl a programme spanning classic regattas, long-distance cruising and transoceanic sailing.
A 17 m Wooden Yacht Restored in 2025
ROB ROY has a displacement of 20.30 tonnes and a draft of 1.80 m. Several major works have been carried out in recent years: a new main mast was fitted in 2020, followed by a new 65 HP Craftsman engine in 2023. In 2025, the yacht underwent a full hull restoration, a significant programme of work for a wooden classic yawl intended to continue both cruising and racing.
