CLIPPER 70 is a purpose-built ocean-going yacht designed by renowned naval architect Tony Castro for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, where the class made its debut in the 2013–14 edition. Measuring 23 m overall, she belongs to a matched one-design fleet with a proven round-the-world sailing heritage. The yachts of this fleet have sailed across the world’s oceans, demonstrating their strength, reliability and capability in a wide range of offshore and ocean conditions.
A capable all-round offshore yacht, she combines a balanced hull, twin rudders and a versatile sail plan for responsive handling across a range of conditions. Her 29 m mast carries 291 m² of sail area, while twin helms provide precise steering and balanced, controlled helming in all conditions. With a displacement of 31.7 tonnes and a 12-tonne bulb keel, she offers the performance, durability and practical offshore capability that define the one-design class. Recorded speeds reach up to 35 knots.
Originally designed to accommodate crews with varying levels of sailing experience, she pairs a proven ocean-going design with a practical layout suited to both experienced sailors and those developing their skills. On deck, twin helms, central pedestal grinders and a spacious working deck support effective sail handling, teamwork and hands-on crew participation.
Below deck, the interior is designed for extended passages and features a fully functional galley, a dedicated navigation area for tactical race routing, a dry accommodation area with ample kit storage and two heads compartments. Beyond ocean racing, the Clipper 70 offers potential for sail training, youth development, charitable programmes and corporate sailing experiences.
