Sailing Yacht · 39,95 m BLACK SAILS
BLACK SAILS is a 39.95 m Wally 130 high-performance sailing yacht, launched in 2009 by Wally Yachts. With naval architecture by Javier Soto Acebal and exterior styling by Amanda Levete, she stands out with her all-black livery and stylish carbon fibre detailing. Hull, superstructure and deck are built in Advanced Carbon Nomex, with a teak deck.
Her open deck layout makes good use of her 40-metre length, while an awning system shelters the entire area from the elements when needed. Her open transom is a veritable terrace on the sea, with easy access to the water via the bathing platform. One of her most striking features is the free-standing main deck seating and dining furniture: it provides an exclusive spot for hosting small groups and can be completely removed for hosting larger groups or for racing in regattas.
With such a strong racing pedigree, BLACK SAILS boasts some of the finest sailing equipment on the market. Her Hall Spars carbon mast and boom carry a super-high modulus masthead rig with three spreaders, complemented by EC6 carbon standing rigging from Future Fibres and a sail wardrobe by North Sails, Evolution Sails and One Sail (764 m² upwind, 1,497 m² downwind). She can easily be transformed from a luxurious cruising yacht into a high-performance regatta racer. Her last dismasting and service took place in 2024.
Her interior has been fitted out to an impeccable standard. Her first refit at German yard Lürssen, carried out in collaboration with Harrison Eidsgaard Design, won the 2011 World Superyacht Award for Best Refit. A second refit at Hinckley Yachts in 2013 has kept her in immaculate condition ever since. The saloon is situated aft, the well-equipped galley up front, as is the crew area, accessible from the foredeck. Staffed by a crew of five, BLACK SAILS accommodates up to 11 guests in 4 cabins.
Meticulously maintained throughout her life, she receives significant upgrades every winter under her current ownership. In 2024 she received new lithium service batteries, new engine and generator batteries, new air conditioning units and new keel cylinders, along with a complete sandblasting of the hull followed by a modern treatment. Powered by a 450 HP MAN engine, she cruises at 11 knots with a range of 1,700 nautical miles. BLACK SAILS is presented in immaculate condition, ready to put to sea.
