KAT is a 23.96 m custom-built expedition sailing yacht, launched in Itajaí, Brazil, in 2014 and extensively refitted, notably in 2021 and 2024. Designed by Nestor Volker, with naval architecture by Nestor Volker and Ricardo Marcelo Rinaldi, she features a robust H32 naval steel hull, a 316L stainless-steel superstructure and a hydraulic lifting keel designed by Horácio Carabell. Her draft can be reduced from 5.20 m to 2.20 m, providing greater versatility when cruising, anchoring and accessing shallower waters.
Designed for long-range cruising, offshore sailing and extended expeditions, KAT has already completed two circumnavigations, including the Expedição Oriente from 2014 to 2016 and the Voice of the Oceans programme from 2021 to 2025. Continuously maintained since her launch, she has retained the same professional captain and crew throughout her major voyages.
KAT is powered by twin 150 HP Volvo Penta D3 engines installed in 2021, providing a cruising speed of 7 to 8 knots. Her range can reach approximately 2,800 nautical miles at 5.5 knots under one engine. With a fuel capacity of 4,100 litres, 3,200 litres of fresh water and a 200 l/h watermaker, this expedition yacht offers excellent autonomy for long-distance passages.
On board, KAT offers six cabins in total, as well as three heads with showers, 64,000 BTU air conditioning and full thermal insulation suitable for both tropical and sub-polar climates. The saloon is divided into two distinct areas, including a large dining table with seating for up to ten people.
Outside, her spacious cockpit can accommodate more than 15 people around two folding tables and features twin helm stations. KAT also carries a 4.30 m Nautiflex RIB tender powered by a 40 HP Yamaha outboard engine.
