HALCYON

HALCYON's deep hull shape makes her very stable and comfortable to sail. Her traditional rig and timeless lines will transport you instantly back to the heyday of yachting in the 1930’s. A magnificent and stunning classic yacht, HALCYON brings more than a touch of class to any harbour she enters.

Named after the ancient Greek name for the 'Kingfisher' - HALCYON was built as a private yacht for the Lancashire industrialist Sir Sam Turner in 1929 by John Thornycroft of Southampton. Her later life saw her training merchant navy cadets in seamanship and navigation for 30 years as a sail training ship at the School of Navigation in Warsash. She has been a private yacht since 1986 in 2006 the present owners gave her an extensive refit at the shipyard of T Nielsen and Co in Gloucester.

On deck there is ample space for socialising and sunbathing, as well as a large teak deck table and seating for magnificent al fresco dining.

Below decks the guest accommodation is all in beautiful Burma teak, much of it original from the 1930s. The owner’s cabin is to starboard, and VIP twin cabin to port enjoy their own heads and shower compartments. The two twin cabins forward of the saloon share a large head and shower compartment.
